Aloha! Below you will find periodic updates regarding the newest phase of the Lahaina Bypass project, Phase 1B-2. Puunoa subdivision security camera relocation complete. Rock work is anticipated to be complete in February 2018.
Underground electrical work along Kai Hele Ku Street is nearing completion. Grading and paving of the road is scheduled to be completed by the end of this month.
PCC night paving is scheduled to be complete up to the Punakea Overpass by the end of this week. The night paving continuing north will start towards the end of this month.
Traffic control along the existing Bypass road and Hokiokio Place will begin on January 16, 2018. Access along Hokiokio Place will be affected. Please use caution and obey all traffic control signage and posted speed limits.
Puunoa subdivision gate transfer completed. Relocation of security cameras will begin on November 27th.
Kai Hele Ku Street traffic flow will be modified today. Traffic will be shifted further South, allowing construction of the second half of the road to begin this week. Please drive with caution and be aware of the traffic control signage in the area.
PCC night paving is not scheduled for the next two weeks, but it is expected to continue in mid December.
Utility work along Hokiokio Place will begin in late December. Access along Hokiokio Place will be affected. Please check back in a few weeks for updates.
Puunoa subdivision gate transfer scheduled for November 20th.
Punakea Bridge decks will be poured on November 13th and 14th from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
Kai Hele Ku Street detour expected to be removed on November 24th.
No night paving operation scheduled for the next 3-4 weeks.
Puunoa subdivision gate relocation work is progressing as planned. Currently waiting for MECO, HTEL and Spectrum to complete their utility relocation work before the final transfer takes place.

Night paving for the week for September 25th is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th.
Puunoa subdivision gate relocation work will begin on September 25th. It is expected that this relocation work will be completed on October 27th.
Kai Hele Ku Street detour will remain in place until mid November.
Night paving for the week of September 11th is scheduled for Wednesday, September 13th and Thursday, September 14th.
Initial surveying and exploratory work for the Puunoa Subdivision gate relocation will also begin the week of September 11th.
Night paving for the PCC pavement is scheduled for Thursday, August 31st and Wednesday, September 6th. All night paving operations will begin at 4:00 PM and be completed by 12:00 AM.
Shifting of traffic onto the Kai Hele Ku Street detour is anticipated to happen mid-morning on August 21st. Please reduce speed to 20 MPH in the area and follow all traffic control signage.
Night paving for the PCC pavement is currently scheduled for Tuesday, August 22nd. This will be the only night pour during the week of August 21, 2017.
Overhead utility relocation work along Kai Hele Ku Street is completed. Construction of the temporary detour road along Kai Hele Ku Street will begin tomorrow, with paving scheduled for August 18th.
Night paving of the PCC pavement is currently scheduled for August 15th and 17th and is expected to continue every Tuesday and Thursday night from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Actual paving dates are subject to change and will be updated on this website.

Temporary utility relocation work along Kai Hele Ku Street is ongoing and is expected to be completed in early August. The construction of the temporary detour road along Kai Hele Ku Street is scheduled to be completed by August 18th.
Night work for the installation of the PCC pavement will begin August 15th. This paving operation will happen once or twice a week over a 5-6 month period, from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Paving operations will begin on the South side of the project near cut mountain.
Temporary utility relocation work along Kai Hele Ku Street will begin on July 3rd. Construction of a temporary detour road, which will be placed on the North side of Kai Hele Ku Street, will begin once the temporary utility work is completed. Shifting of traffic onto the temporary detour road is scheduled to take place in late July. A picture of the temporary detour along Kai Hele Ku Street has been uploaded in the gallery. This temporary detour road will be utilized through October.
